After testing Hoodoba® Hoodia diet pills and confirming their effectiveness, CBS News sent 60 Minutes reporter Leslie Stahl to South Africa to investigate, igniting the firestorm of interest that followed:

Because the Kalahari Desert of South Africa is the only place in the world where Hoodia grows wild, Stahl and her team located an experienced tracker named Toppies Kruiper, a local SAN aborigine Bushman, to help find Hoodia gordonii.

Asked how Hoodia worked for her, CBS News correspondent Lesley Stahl said she had no after effects - or racing heart. She had no desire to eat all day. "I'd have to say it did work," says Stahl.

The story concluded that the Hoodia gordonii plant could likely become the greatest weapon in the war against obesity ever discovered.

After 60 Minutes aired a segment on Hoodia diet pills featuring Hoodoba®, the product I use, many websites started displaying the [As seen on 60 Minutes!] logo along with quotes from the program, hoping you didn't SEE the actual showing. They go to great lengths to insinuate and imply that it was their diet pills were the ones featured, but always stop short by saying "X Hoodia" was seen on 60 Minutes, because they CANNOT explicitly state that their diet pills were the diet pills "featured".

Additionally, for the most part, the products that continue to make these false and misleading claims, are not subject to ongoing random testing, and their exact contents are not really known.
